Insomnia...

Yesterday, I received an ad in the mail for a new drug out that treats narcolepsy. I asked my husband if he thought it would be safe to take with my Ambien. He said it probably wasn't a good idea. Ambien puts me to sleep at night, sometimes within minutes of taking. I may or may not have fallen asleep while talking on the phone before. It's that good. Unfortunately, it doesn't always keep me there, especially as of late, I've discovered what life is like at 3 a.m. and I don't much like it. But, it is what it is.

So, I'm blogging. What else do you do that time of day?

Ishee is working on her Idaho History project and I she decided we she should do it on the ghost town of Gilmore. So we hopped in the car, drove 100 miles and found snow approximately 2 1/2 miles from our destination. By this point, Ishee was determined it as the dumbest project ever and we should just turn around anyway. We almost did. Instead, we drove on and then hiked a couple hundred yards in our tennis shoes in ankle deep snow (don't worry, the boy was a good boy and led the way so the rest of us only had to step in his tracks and walk around the parts he sunk clear to his knees). We were all completely soaked by the time we left, but it was beautiful & warm (despite being 37 degrees). The only drawback now is the fact that somehow, Ishee's little friend at school is doing the exact same project. So much for my unique ideas.
The girl started drivers ed last week. If you don't live around here, consider yourself very very lucky. We let her drive from our house to my inlaws house a few weeks ago, which is approximately 100 yards away and she nearly killed us all and the mailbox, too. Tonight is her first time behind the wheel of the drivers ed car and hopefully she will learn the difference between right and left sometime between now and then. Her poor teachers. Given her track record (and I'm only joking a little here), they will probably retire when they are done with her. The best part about drivers ed is by far the boys. I'm pretty sure the amount of boys who have her cell phone number would scare me. Everything about her already scares her dad.

The boy got promoted to the number one position on the golf team recently. That means you play against the best player from the other teams. So far, he's not really proving that it was the best decision, but, I think he's having fun. I blame the girls he's recently discovered. Oh my gosh, did you know you can talk to them face to face and not just via texting? Oh my gosh, did you know you could leave the house and go places with them? Oh my gosh, did you know that if you ask a super cute girl, like say, the bishops daughter to the prom she will say yes by sending you on a really hard scavenger hunt involving movie quotes and boat loads of easter grass that certain cats will tip the garbage can over just to get more of. Who needs golf when there are girls around?

The super cute husband is making up for his lack of effort last year on the golf course and has decided to play in a few tournaments this year. He's played in two of them already and tied for 3rd in the first, and tied for 2nd net, 3rd gross (don't ask me what that means) in the second one. I can't complain about his absence... especially since placing means "credit" at the pro shop and since he's going to buy new golf stuff anyway, it might as well be free. Am I right or am I right?

Lastly... I have loved working more this year than I did last year. I know the kids a little better, which means we get along a little better. I'm proud to say that one of our most difficult students who has called every adult in the school the most foul and awful names ever, usually calls them that because he wants to come see me in speech, and he's never been anything but nice to me. Makes me feel all sorts of afraid special. I think.

Some of the teachers talk to me now and treat me like I am an actual employee. Our new principal is fantastic in every way and I think I love her. She installed a pop machine and then she took away recess, bus and lunch room duty because we are just that busy (and there was that one incident with the scary lunch lady...). We only service about 50 kids, anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour a week, mostly one on one. Like I had time for recess duty?

Best thing is... I only have 11 more days of work this year. Not that I'm counting or anything.

Insomnia. Yawn. Too bad it's time to go wake up the kids now.

"M" is for me, myself, and ... me

"Me" happens to be my least favorite subject to photograph because "Me" can be so malcontent when it comes to taking pictures.

It doesn't help that "Me" is almost always behind the camera instead of in front of it. "Me" kind of likes it that way, though.

But here she is in all of her glory... "ME".

She even combed her hair.

On a Monday.

Which meant the first words out of Ishee's mouth when she got home from school were "Where'd you go today?"

Nowhere. Why?

"You did your hair".

Hmmm... I wonder what she is trying to tell "me"?

Check out ABC Wednesday to see what other marvelous and magnificant "M's" were captured this week.

10 YEARS AGO.....

This week even ... I was waiting for the power company to turn the power on in my house so I could move OUT of the spare bedroom of my inlaws house where I'd lived for the past three weeks and into my new house! Lets just say, I was half moved in within ten minutes of their departure.

I collect Willow Tree figurines.
I really don't enjoy much of anything that takes place in the kitchen... except eating.

Tweaked and tagged...

I'm just messing with my template... oh how I wish I was an extremely talented scrapbook page designer... so I'll still be tweaking over the next little while, and knowing me... forever.

I'll take a break from that little project for now and complete my "tag" from the other day... Thanks Ang!

10 yrs ago:
I got out my journal for this one... February 2008: Looks like dh just started working for a car dealership and he's not enjoying it. My inlaws are trying to convince us to build a house next to them as the house we are living in has one problem after another, mostly plumbing related. I think I might be pregnant, and if I'm not, dh wants to go get his wings clipped (I'm not, and he obviously didn't as my youngest was born in 2000). My son just got over the chicken pox and now my daughter has them... I think, just one pox on her bum. She also loves to take the paper off crayons in nursery and is almost completely potty trained (at 18 months). We made $1600 that February. OY!

5 Things on my list of things to do today:
Volunteer at the school (check)
Post office (check)
Grocery store (check)
Laundry (never ending work in progress)
Renew my temple recommend (finally)

Things I would do if I suddenly was a Billionaire:
Move

3 of my bad habits:
Picking at my hangnails
Playing with my hair
Swearing

Places I have lived:

20 or so miles south of here
3 miles south of here
(and you wonder why I only want to move if I became a billionaire?)

Jobs I have had:

Fast food server
Post EFY maid
Bakery/Deli counter person
Sales Rep
Customer Service Rep
Mom

Things most people don't know about me:
I never lived away from home during college
I like the towels to be folded just so.
I like the silverware to be stacked just so.
I like the glasses to be stacked neatly in the cupboard.
I don't fold my underwear, but I do fold my socks.
I do fold dh's underwear, but not his socks.
I don't like to sing.
I don't like to read outloud.
I don't really like dogs.
I don't like to be cold.
I am extremely ticklish.
I can't stand to have my feet rubbed or even touched.
I've never had a pedicure as a result.

It's official...

I was finally released from my calling for the past two years today. It felt GOOD to hear those words as they released me with a vote of thanks, and yet, I was sad. I have loved serving in the primary, doing the job that I most love to do more than anything in the church - playing the piano.

But... it was time.

Since our new pianist is out of town for a few weeks, I did go in today to fill in for her. She'll be gone next week, too, but they said they'd find someone else as I had served my time!

They all told me goodbye and one little girl came up to tell me thank you for all I done. *sniff*

One teacher, who loves to give me a bad time told me I was a chicken for leaving. I told him it was his fault I had to leave... I couldn't handle looking at him over the piano any longer. Oh, how he giggled...

I am SO excited to get to attend relief society for the first time (besides mothers day each year) in my ward (SIX YEARS!!!)! First time! I've forgotten what it's like to sit among people my own age.

Plus there is that whole "going to Sunday School with GM" thing... that's just an added bonus. He's a tad happy happy, too!
