Happy 101

My friend Ang thinks I'm pretty awesome... either that or she was desperate for another person to give this award to. I'm going to go with the awesome part... especially since I think she's pretty awesome. Either way, receiving this award means I must come up with ten things I really love. We'll see how long this takes.

1. My family. I know, that's quite possibly the most common, generic answer one can give, but it is at the top of my list. They may be my biggest trials in life, but my life wouldn't be the same without each and every one of them. My hot husband. My beautiful kids. My kind and loving parents. My wonderful brothers and sisters and their families. Even my inlaws. They keep life interesting. They are the reason I get out of bed in the morning.

2. Butt warmers. Last year when I went shopping for a new car, this was the number one thing on my list of "must have's". I lucked out by finding a car with fabric seats that came with butt warmers. 99% of the time, it's on before my seatbelt. They are just that important.

3. The Big Bang Theory. We went for years without watching this quirky show on Monday nights, and then one night we found ourselves with nothing else to watch so we turned it on. We had no idea what we had been missing out on all these years. Plus, it cracks me up to hear my son sing the theme song word for word (and if you've ever heard the theme song, you'd know this is no easy task).

4. DVR's. Greatest invention ever, right next to the butt warmers. Best $5 (guessing here?) a month we spend.

5. Caller ID. Third greatest invention ever. Except for the fact that people are now resorting to using their cell phones and I don't always know who certain numbers belong to. I've since learned that if I don't recognize the number, I may not want to answer the phone... especially on Sunday mornings. One never knows what the person on the other end wants.

6. My job. My paying job, that is. Most of the time, anyway. It's mostly stress free, and there are some kids I'd like to drop-kick to China on a daily basis, but for the most part, I love it. I love working with the kids. I love walking down the hall and have them give me high fives, even a few hugs. I love running into them at the grocery store and seeing their big smiles when they see me. I love it when they stop by my office first thing in the morning just to say hi. And as an added bonus, I get to personally work with two nieces and a nephew who I absolutely adore!

7. Mr. Clean erasers. This stuff needs to come in a spray, window cleaner, and laundry detergent, too. Is there nothing it can't clean?

8. Blogging. I've always kept a journal, but I hate writing things by hand. I started blogging years ago, back when few people had ever heard of blogging. I have no idea whatever happened to that first blog I created, and I now have so many for various different blogging purposes, I can barely keep track of them all, nor do I keep them updated (who has the time?). Just for the record, I still have a "paper" journal I try to write in at least once a year, just for something different.

9. Barnes and Noble. I'm like a kid in a candy store when I go in there. I find when I go into town, I have to avoid the mall or take my non-loving Barnes and Noble husband with me when I go to the mall just so I won't be tempted to buy anything. I don't even have time to read most of the books I buy, I just love browsing the shelves, smelling the pages, owning the books. If I was made of money, I'd definitely need to buy a bigger house just to store all the books I'd love to own.

10. Living here. Sure, I live next door to my inlaws in a teeny tiny two stop light town of under 5,000 people, but... I'm less than five minutes from my job... I'm three hours or so from a major airport ... I can tour all of Yellowstone National Park, take pictures of the Tetons from Mormon Row, or hang with the rich and famous in Sun Valley and be home before dark ... there's an Olive Garden, Kohl's, Cafe Rio, Five guys burgers and fries, two Super Walmarts, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, mountains, ski hills, and windmills all within a short drive from my house ... what more could I ask for?

Finally, if you actually read this... consider yourself awarded - you know who you are. Be sure to let me know you did it so I can come see what things you love.

Another e-mail tag... Christmas edition...

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?

Mostly paper, but depending on what it is, I will use a bag now and again. Wrapping paper is just more fun!

2. Real tree or Artificial?

I'm a fake girl... real trees are messy, the cat would destroy it, and dh is probably allergic to it. Not to mention, I loathe the smell.

3. When do you put up the tree?

The day after Thanksgiving, I'm itching to do it now!

4. When do you take the tree down?

Usually between Christmas and New Years, whenever I get sick of it.

5. Do you like eggnog?

I do... its SO bad for you, though. I like the Vanilla egg nog. YUM!

6. Favorite gift received as a child?

A play typewriter. Maybe that's why I like typing so much now?

7. Hardest person to buy for?

My father in law...

8. Easiest person to buy for?

My parents... LOL

9. Do you have a nativity scene?

Yeah, I have like five or six of them. My favorite is a porcelain one that my friend Roberta made for me. It sits in my curio cabinet all year long. It's gorgeous!

10. Mail or email Christmas cards?

Mail

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?

We've received some odd things we never used from my sister in law, but nothing that I would say is the worst gift ever.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie?

Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, Charlie Brown (not a movie, I know), and Miracle on 24th street.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?

Probably next week or so... though we do have a couple odds and ends.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?

Nope

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?

Caramels! They are heavenly!!!

16. Lights on the tree?

Yep, I always do white. Every year I threaten to change it up, but I always end up using the white ones.

17. Favorite Christmas song?

I have like 60 of them... how about I narrow it down by saying anything by Garth Brooks, Collin Raye, Josh Groban, Harry Connick Jr. and Brett Raymond. Those are my favorite CD's!

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?

All the family lives here, so travel for us is to walk next door.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's?

Yep. Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen, RUDOLPH!!!

20. Angel on the tree top or a star?

I have a star... I want a new one, though.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?

On Christmas eve we go to my inlaws and open the presents from grandparents, inlaws, and dh's sister and family. It's chaos!

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?

Traffic!

23. Favorite ornament theme or color?

I'm a blue and silver girl... red and gold just doesn't do it for me. This year, I bought copper and green balls, though, and I might just have the most eclectic tree ever! We'll see how it goes!

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner?

We have the same thing for Christmas dinner every year... ham and baked potatoes. I'm not a ham girl, though... so I guess my favorite would be the pumpkin pie and caramels!

25. What do you want for Christmas this year?

My sister in law wants to know the same thing... and truth be told, I haven't a clue. World peace? Actually, I want a new vacuum (which won't happen) and an external hard drive for my laptop (which will happen). I don't know what to tell my SIL, though. She offered to buy me a new version of photoshop... of coarse, she has NO idea how much they are. LOL

I really don't enjoy much of anything that takes place in the kitchen... except eating.

Tweaked and tagged...

I'm just messing with my template... oh how I wish I was an extremely talented scrapbook page designer... so I'll still be tweaking over the next little while, and knowing me... forever.

I'll take a break from that little project for now and complete my "tag" from the other day... Thanks Ang!

10 yrs ago:
I got out my journal for this one... February 2008: Looks like dh just started working for a car dealership and he's not enjoying it. My inlaws are trying to convince us to build a house next to them as the house we are living in has one problem after another, mostly plumbing related. I think I might be pregnant, and if I'm not, dh wants to go get his wings clipped (I'm not, and he obviously didn't as my youngest was born in 2000). My son just got over the chicken pox and now my daughter has them... I think, just one pox on her bum. She also loves to take the paper off crayons in nursery and is almost completely potty trained (at 18 months). We made $1600 that February. OY!

5 Things on my list of things to do today:
Volunteer at the school (check)
Post office (check)
Grocery store (check)
Laundry (never ending work in progress)
Renew my temple recommend (finally)

Things I would do if I suddenly was a Billionaire:
Move

3 of my bad habits:
Picking at my hangnails
Playing with my hair
Swearing

Places I have lived:
four miles north of here
20 or so miles south of here
3 miles south of here
(and you wonder why I only want to move if I became a billionaire?)

Jobs I have had:
Potato harvester
Fast food server
Post EFY maid
Bakery/Deli counter person
Sales Rep
Customer Service Rep
Mom

Things most people don't know about me:
I never lived away from home during college
I like the towels to be folded just so.
I like the silverware to be stacked just so.
I like the glasses to be stacked neatly in the cupboard.
I don't fold my underwear, but I do fold my socks.
I do fold dh's underwear, but not his socks.
I don't like to sing.
I don't like to read outloud.
I don't really like dogs.
I don't like to be cold.
I am extremely ticklish.
I can't stand to have my feet rubbed or even touched.
I've never had a pedicure as a result.
