Alexis and Brandon

I've known Lexi since her uncle married my sister in law 11 years ago, and Brandon was one of my sons friends in high school, and I was tickled when Lexi asked me to take her engagement photos.  Of course, the reason she asked me was because everyone else was booked and he was leaving the next day for San Diego where he would be receiving his current Navy orders and wouldn't be back until right before the wedding.

{P is for Photoshoot}

Who gave you permission to be so cute when you are related to ME of all people?

She must get it from her dad.

{the one about my baby girl and the horse}

My baby girl.

She is a stubborn one.

When she was a little girl, Grandpa decided it was time
my kids learn to ride horses.
He tooled them a cute little saddle
and built an arena out back and everything.
One day, this baby girl of mine was feeling
particularly brave and well,
I'm not exactly sure what happened since I wasn't there,
but I seemed to recall it involved her arms in the air and
knowing her,
lots of noise.

I just remember the heart attack it nearly gave her grandpa when his horse
tossed his four year old granddaughter to the ground.

Needless to say,
I don't know that she's gotten on the horse since.
Not her choice.
Grandpa's heart couldn't handle it.

So the other day,
I asked her if I could take her picture.
The light was perfect, I had some ideas in mind of what I wanted to do,
and her stubborn side kicked in, and well,

it didn't happen.

It may have been a long night.

Just saying.

But, the next day,
she wasn't home from school five minutes when she said:

"Mom, I'll let you take my picture today."

This time, I let her fix her own hair and pick out her own clothes.
I didn't say a word.

I listened to all her suggestions about where to stand and how to pose,
I mean, afterall, these is her 5th picture she is allowing me to hang on the wall,

Why should I get a say in it?

GEEZ!

Except for the time I suggested she go up and pet old Joker,
which is not the same horse that bucked her off,
but, there is a reason he's called "Joker", which is Latin for "royal pain in the butt".

She had to draw the line somewhere.

And she wasn't going anywhere near him.

She did a pretty good job.
Lets just hope she approves and lets me hang one on the wall.

You never know with her.

{Crazy Buzy}

The past six weeks or so have included such crazy buzy things as...

Photoshoots
Birthdays.
Remodeling projects.
And just when I thought we were finally getting our routine down, a new church calling was extended to me.  Relief Society Secretary.  Nothing too huge, just big enough to require a super cute new church bag.

Winter Photoshoot

The other day, my friend Lindsay called and asked if I could take a last minute family photo for them. I wouldn't say yes to just everyone, but I gladly agreed.

And not just because gathering family pictures is my calling at church so this was good practice.

Truthfully, I adore Lindsay and her kids are SO STINKIN' CUTE and who doesn't want to take pictures of stinkin cute kids???

It's simply amazing this little hat even fit her cute little head... she has the longest, most beautiful hair I think I've ever seen on a 10 month old.

Of course, 3 year old big brother had to be bribed with a lolli-pop in the end ... but he was definitely a photographers dream.

Thanks for letting me take your pictures, Lindsay. I would gladly do it for you anytime! But only you. ;-)

Family pictures

We utilized a new remote control and tripod and headed north to the local university gardens for a photoshoot. It was no easy task. The girl had something all over her new shirt from off the seatbelt so we made a quick trip to Downeast Outfitters for a new shirt (the checkout girl said "Um, did you guys like, notice you were all like, wearing plaid shorts?" NO WAY! It's almost like, we planned it or something. What a co-ink-ee-dink!

Then we get to the gardens to discover two bridal photo shoots and one college family home evening group playing a rousing game of tag.
Some of these thought provoking looks were given after we reminded him of the hot blonde running around the gardens chasing after her cute family home evening brothers. Yeah, he can't wait to go to college now.
And the girl? Wait... there's cute boys running around up here? Am I really only almost 14? Life is so not fair...
Then there was the Ish, who cooperated when she wanted to and when she does, she proves to be the photogenic child she has always been.

Dad... please buy me icecream when we're done... oh, and a cell phone for my birthday next week.
Mom... please don't let dad take a picture of you with your head on my shoulder because that is the one you will post on facebook and tag me in and all my friends will see and...
Lesson learned... the girl is better at taking pictures than the boy. That is all I'm going to say about that.

To really appreciate our beauty, feel free to click on the photos to enlarge them... just my way of saving time and space.
