{SOOC Sunday} Temple Square

This weekend, the husband took me on a much needed getaway to Salt Lake City.

We shopped til we dropped.
(Ikea, Cabelas, Tai Pan, Golf Galaxy)

We ate at our favorite restaurant.
 (PF Changs)

We walked around Temple Square.

I hadn't been there during the holidays since I was a little girl.
I'm pretty sure it was the highlight of my whole weekend.

It was freezing cold, snowing, completely packed, and absolutely beautiful.

I think it needs to become a yearly tradition!

(Inside the Joseph Smith Building)

(The Tabernacle, all set up for the Christmas Devotional on Sunday)

SOOC - Macro Monday - {it's a mystery}

My super cute husband surprised me this week with an early birthday present...

A MACRO lens for my camera!!! I love love love MACRO photography! It's a little different than the lenses I'm used to, so darn it, I have to play with a little (or a LOT) so I can get it all figured out. Like I'm going to complain. ;)

I've got a mystery for you... WHAT ARE THESE? They are growing on my potato plants (the purple ones)! I have never seen such a thing, nor has anyone else we asked, and we live in the heart of potato-ville!
And just a little bit of the MACRO I've been playing with... (when the husband and I aren't beating each other at Gin)...

SOOC - Sunset

One of my favorite parts of summer are the beautiful evening lightning storms that roll through every once in awhile. They are especially beautiful when they include a beautiful sunset. The other night, we pulled up a chair (tailgate) and sat and watched until the rain arrived at our house. It was the perfect ending to my day.

SOOC - Potatoes

I don't see as many potatoes growing in big fields like I used to as a kid. But, this is still Idaho and we do boast the perfect soil and growing conditions for my favorite vegetable.

Our garden this year is filled with two long rows of red and purple potatoes which has provided us with a plethora of beautiful pink and purple blooms. I cannot wait to fill the dutch oven with their yummy (and colorful) goodness soon! My mouth is already watering.

SOOC - Drowned Rat

Because it's too much work to put up, I think the pool will remain in the box in the garage for yet another summer. It's okay. Ishee can spend all the time she wants next door with cousin B in her pool. Or she can do it the way I did it when I was her age.... with the trampoline and it's accompanying sprinkler and bonus rainbow.

She looks a bit like a drowned rat, does she not?

SOOC - crEatiVe

Oh, how I adore her creativity... and I'm also a tad jealous of her sculpting class. Why didn't they offer these super cool classes when I went to school there? I could'a been a contenda...

SOOC - Because

Because life got in the way last fall and I never got my own tulips replanted.

Because I'm pretty sure the sun has forgotten how to shine around here.

Because the husband is ready to go on another Ikea bender.

Because I haven't touched my camera since last Monday.

Because I only have 11 days of work left.

Because I felt like it.

And that's why I dug through the archives for this straight out of the camera tulip shot from our weekend we spent in Salt Lake City last April.

Straight out of the camera Sunday

My daughter is taking a sculpting class at school. Can you guess who the adorable critter she sculpted into her mug is?

Straight out of the camera Sunday

A few weeks ago, I wondered where all the gravel had gone out of the driveway as I sat and spun my tires in the slush. I found it. It's on the lawn.

SOOC

Ishee came to me the other day and asked if she could borrow the green paint she found in her big brothers closet. She had a wild hair and needed the paint to finish the catastrophe masterpiece she was creating for her dad. It was going to involve a piece of cardboard, the golf decorations from her brothers birthday cake, and... green paint.

I told her yes (don't tell him, though, as she's pretty sure he would "care" that she borrowed it), and off she went.

When her dad came home, she handed it to him and said "you better like it, it took me a whole five minutes to make!"

It now sits proudly on his desk.

Check out them there teeth... SOOC

'Round these parts we call it a kiss... it's a bit much when she leaves teeth marks, though.
