Even after all the "adventures" of having yet another cat in the house... I asked the Ish what she wanted for Christmas and she said, "another kitten". Sorry, chica. Not gonna happen this year! My limit is one black furry disaster a year. Oddly enough, Ishee wants to be a "cat lady" when she grows up.

I heart *pets* faces
The other day, we went for a drive to scope out a nice secluded place to take the family camping this week up in the mountains. After finding the perfect spot, we then tried to remember which "Y" we took and which pond we drove past so we could find our way back in a few days when my daughter discovered this handsome owl. So, we stopped and asked this the owl if it would just stay there a few days so we'd know for sure we need to turn left at the owl. He politely declined.

I heart nostaligic faces...
Remember those first day of school jitters? My baby girl sure had them this year, but for totally different reasons than you or I may have had them. Sure, she was going to a brand new not even totally finished yet school. Sure, she was going to have some new kids thanks to boundaries being realigned. No, my baby girl had the first day jitters because she is the sweetest kid in the world.
It was her cousins first day of kindergarten. My baby girl was so worried about how her cousin would like school she was making herself sick to her stomach. Would she like her teacher? Would she sit still in class? Would she cry and beg to go home? Would she get on the bus? Would she sit down on the bus? Will the bus driver get mad if she doesn't sit down? And the biggest fear of all - what if cousin gets upset and I can't help her? I tried to reassure my baby girl that her cousin (who happens to live next door to us) would be okay, but she just wasn't convinced. Because she's a worrier.
Oh, the stories I could tell about cousins first day. School - good. Bus - bad. Very bad. Baby girl - so stressed out about it she can barely sleep and is grumpy is going to have to become her first name instead of her middle name, I'm afraid!
My first day of school jitters may not have been for the same reason, and my stomach may not have been tied up in so many knots they required medication, but they were there. Were yours?

I heart silly faces...
Broken smiles....
To truly understand this picture, you'd have to know the girl. This is my five year old neice and she is the funniest little girl I know. Yesterday, I asked her if I could take her picture. She very reluctantly agreed. I asked her to give me a big smile and she said "but my smile is broken, see..." She took her fingers and she lifted the edge of her mouth, but it just wouldn't move. She is the silliest girl I know!

I heart "pets" and "sports" faces...
And it was by sheer luck that I caught this great shot of my 15 year old son last week as they were playing some water sports - with this particular challenge being the water balloon toss. Monday, July 06, 2009
I heart Patriotism....
The long story: Check my not so public blog.
The short story: We came, we saw, we conquered. This year was like NO other fourth of July we've experienced in years.
There was less inlaw time after we basically told them we just weren't going to spend 24/7 with them this long weeked (did you know I have in-laws on both sides of me?).
There was illegal fireworks thanks to the massive amounts of rain finally giving us the assurance that if we lit something, we wouldn't burn down the yard around us (or the horse pasture or the alfalfa field across the street or the....).
And there was also the "I saved a chihuahua in a yellow sundress from being eaten by our blue heeler" incident (I haven't run that fast in years!).
I guarantee none of these things happen on a regular basis.Unfortunately Thankfully.

Check out I heart faces for more patriotic stories!

I heart boy faces
This weeks I heart faces challenge is "lets hear it for the boys". I picked two of my favorite boys to feature this week: The husband wrastlin' with the boy when he was supposed to be posing for Christmas pictures...
And the boy doing what he does best - pretending to be a moose.
Check out more "boys" this week at "I heart faces"
