"X" is for eXtreme

his past weekend, my girls went camping with my sister in law. We knew that without them around to keep us entertained and no Netflix movies in our mailbox, we were going to be eXtremely bored. So I made a suggestion to the husband. Lets do something eXtreme... lets go hiking. Yeah, we're not hikers, so for us, this was very eXtreme. I picked an easy one. So easy that the first 1/3 of it is wheelchair accessible. I didn't even get tired, which is definitely saying something!
And it comes with a totally free eXtremely beautiful view.
Cress Creek
It's actually pretty warm for mountain spring water. I think it has to do with the nearby hot springs.
My two eXtremely handsome dates...

Canola fields to the east

And this... is why we have so much water going over the waterfalls to the southwest of us.
The Great Feeder is the largest irrigating system in the Upper Snake
River Valley and one of the largest systems in the West. It supplies
water for some twenty major canal systems, diverts up to one million
acre-feet of water and has irrigated one hundred thousand or more
acres of farmland. At one time, the head gate (116 feet from end to
end) was said to be the largest in the United States. What makes this
achievement even more impressive is that the pioneers built the
system using what today we would call primitive methods and tools.

The water was eXtremely high, eXtremely loud, yet eXtremely beautiful and intriguing.

We loved the cress creek hike when we lived there.... although I liked it better before it was wheelchair accessible (that sounds mean, huh... I am glad wheelchairs can now go on it. :) Beautiful photos!
