52 Photowalks - Week 27

Camping.

There is a reason we never do it, simply requires more work than we are used to just to get ready. And we won't even talk about what there is to do once you get home!

But, we went. We enjoyed. We survived. We came home. And here's proof.

We chose an alternate route to our campspot, instead of going past the ski hill, we drove north, past the dry farms and up the hill.
Enjoyed some of the local wildlife...
And still managed to find our little spot of heaven that we picked out last week.
Some of the local vegetation happily greeted us...
And the girls immediately found a "P" tree (which was a little close to camp and therefore was not used as the official "pee" tree).
We went for a walk through the huckleberry bushes, until the husband spied a bull moose in the distance and they are a cantankerous breed of critters, so we opted to leave it alone and head back to camp (its the dark spot there in the middle... hey, I tried!).
The weather was perfect...
The trees were plentiful...
The firewood came in handy...
The boy was the only one smart enough to bring something to do... darn kid...
The girls and I went for a walk and discovered the stump where the owl was sitting last week...
And they were sad that the owl wasn't there waiting for us (yet we found the place anyway)...
This bird did not appreciate us being so close to it's home and flew circles around us...

And this squirrel stalked us all day and night and day and dang, it's loud at 5 a.m. It kept the boy entertained as he was just sure it was the leader of the squirrel brigade and would attack us at any moment. Thus, the stories of "the great squirrel attack in Moody Creek" began.
I had to beg them to build a fire. What's camping without a fire?
And then I parked my butt and didn't move for the next 18 hours.
We played a few rounds of apples to apples... which despite the picture, "I" won...
When you are camping, who cares what you look like. Nobody is going to see you anyway. Right?
Oh, the POLLEN. Holy cow. How my allergy ridden husband did not die is beyond me! It was so thick you could barely see through it at times, yet, it didn't bother him a bit.
My awesomely handsome boys...
Ain't we cute?
Ish started begging to go to bed about 7:00. We were wishing she'd just go by about 7:05.
The girl had just returned from girls camp and was full of scary stories and songs to sing around the fire.

The Ish slept so little and was a tad cranky. She hid behind a tree for awhile and we let her, and may have even encouraged it a little.
She also moped on a stump for awhile after writing the word "bored" 689 times on a piece of paper. I couldn't wait to take her "I'm not whining" butt home!
The girl did a little jig for us...
And then we rolled up the tent and rolled on out of there.
Not one car came down our road we camped by, only a four wheeler about an hour before we left. The weather was perfect and went to pot shortly after we left, which was just before all the rest of the campers moved in for the holiday weekend. Thanks for hosting us, Moody Creek. Until next time.
And a special thanks to the awesome husband for taking time off from work to take us! I hope we can do it again soon! Love ya, babe!

camping is so much work--but so much fun. I love to go. Looks like you had a good week. Oh and I would have steered clear of the moose too.
