What is it with getting old?

The other day, I was dinking around on Facebook like I like to do and found a list of my friends birthdays. I was checking it out and noticed that those who included the year they were born, it would tell you how old they were turning this year. My chin hit the floor. I stopped keeping track about five years ago and when people ask me how old I am (which I rarely tell anymore), I have to count it up in my head because I simply don't know.

It only took checking out two birthday's before I got so depressed I had to shut it off. My brother just older than me is turning 40 this year. WHAT THE HECK? I can only imagine how HE feels about it, but I sure know it depresses me. Then I moved up a month and WHAT THE HECK??? My husband is going to be 39 this year? Are you serious??? Remind me not to tell him.

You'd think I'd be bothered by the fact that we're having our 20 year class reunion this summer, but for some reason, the number 20 doesn't sound nearly as old as 40. How did this happen? When did we get SO OLD???

So funny! I have the same problem. No idea how old I am. And I don't really care! Last night I was at a friends house to watch some PBS movie that was four hours long. It started at 8:30, so at 10:30, I said I couldn't handle any more and had to go home to bed. My friend told me later that another girl said that when she was older like Nic, she would be a smarter mom and not stay up so late and be cranky with her kids the next day. The chick is 32! There's only five years difference between us! (I guess 32 is more like 30 whereas 37 is pushing 40 -- big difference.) Oh well. I don't care. Really, if I'm not looking in a mirror or trying to walk up stairs, I totally think I'm 25!

Hey, watch it with the "old" remarks (says she who is 40 years old and trying to live in denial). Yeah, I didn't give my birth year on facebook either, although that's probably pointless because everyone on there knows me, obviously, so it's not like it's a big secret. Especially since half of them are my former classmates!

oh my gosh - I'm just like you - no idea how old I am - and kind of frightened about the 40! LOL!
