Macro Monday - What is this?

Growing in the flower beds in Sun Valley, Idaho. A fancy type of lettuce, perhaps?

I think it's ornamental cabbage,but I could be wrong.

Funny, I read the comments to confirm what I thought. Not that I know anything about gardening, but they do look like some kind of cabbage that I've seen before. Pretty, though :)

These are Brassica oleracea or Ornamental Kale/Cabbage. I discovered them on a trip to Japan earlier this year. They are of Mediterranean origin but the Japanese first used them as ornamentals. I have a picture of them on my blog but definitely not as pretty as yours.

we call them cabbage roses
