27...

That be the number of houseplants I now have. I'm insane. I know. It's my new all time record high by four plants.
Last week, my sister popped up from Utah to visit with mom, with her cute granddaughter Alyssa in tow, as well as 13 house plants for whoever wanted them. I was there... they had to go somewhere. (And well, RA, you weren't there to snag a few. If you really want one, though, you do know where I live.)
See, this sister of mine (#3) is an avid collector of house plants. Especially the unique variety. I asked her what the names were and she trailed off with big long latin names, to which I replied with "yeah, like I'll ever remember even one those!" I do remember Sansavaria... but I think that's only because the identity tag is in the plant. Like I know the names of any of my OWN houseplants? Who am I kidding?

And (I start way too many sentances with the word "and"... I promise English is my first language... my only language... and I even passed college English, but I obviously didn't pay attention) same sister is transferring from Utah to Mississippi in a few weeks. Part of the reason being an inside joke (and totally not true but still somewhat amusing), however the REAL reason is so she can go back to school to get her doctorate in... hmmm... I never thought to ask, though I'm pretty sure it has to do with journalism. Or English of some kind. I bet she never starts a sentance with "and".

Anyway, there was no way some 50+ houseplants were going to make the trek to Ole Miss (okay, no idea if it is Ole Miss she's going to... the school in Hattiesburg or thereabouts? Does that tell you how well I pay attention?) Thus, she is giving houseplants away... kind of like people give zucchini away in the summer time... don't leave your car unlocked at church or you'll end up with a whole carload, ya know? I ought to try that one week... I'll have plenty to spare. Zucchini... not houseplants.

My goal is to keep these puppies alive... along with the four African Violets she gave me back in May. She told me she didn't care if they lived or died or what I did with them... they are mine to do as I wish. >evil grin< Again, I will just be happy if any live! That's not a bad goal, is it?

Tomorrow my goal is to not get eaten by a bear. That's really not a bad goal, either. More details and hopefully some spectactular photos to come on that in a few days... if I'm still around.

(And a personal side note to Kelly... girl, seriously... will you help me plan a birthday party? Do you really enjoy it? What's wrong with you? Ha ha! J/K. Nothing fancy. No idea about a theme... she's turning 8, she loves stuffed animals and drawing, she wants to get her ears pierced, she's ornery, opinionated, and a royal pain in the hiney. What kinds of themes go along with that? All she cares is that Brylei gets an invite! Oh, and I detest hosting parties, so simple is GOOD! VERY good!)

What do you think our baby girls would do to eachother?? They sound SO alike! I would be afraid to stick them in the same room together. lol
I use to have five big house plants and I kept them alive for a good two years. When we moved in the middle of winter none of them made the trip. Within weeks they had died. Now I can't keep one plant alive let alone 20 some odd. Where do you put them all?

There's a solution to all those house plants. Just don't water 'em. You'll have them down to a manageable number in no time. Works for me.

My plants have fancy names, too: Almost Dead, Turning Yellow, Dried Up Weeks Ago, Good Grief Why Haven't You Put That Thing Out Of Its Misery, and Fake.
