Book #5

Book of the Dead

By: Patricia Cornwell

Perhaps the best reason I got a library card is because I just couldn't wait until this book came out in paperback form to read it.

I've been a long time fan of her books, and have read almost all of them over the years. The ones I haven't read are the non-Kay Scarpetta books. I tried one once and it just didn't sit with me, so I didn't continue on with those.

This one, of coarse a Kay Scarpetta book, did not disappoint in the least. Perhaps the only issue I took with the book was the fact that it seemed to have more swear words than the ones I've read in the past.

Another issue I have with mystery books... I haven't the ability to put them down until I know who did it, which is why my husband isn't a fan of mystery novels.

I searched through blogs, good reads, and amazon for books that piqued my interest to add to my "must read" list. I was a bit disappointed to find that my local library, while a decent little library, has few books on my must read list (especially the top picks from Amazon, which was really disappointing).

If you've read any "must read" books lately (looking at my sister who also checks them out from the same library), clue me in. I have a pretty good list going already, but I'd sure like to add to it. I've forgotten how much I enjoy reading and plan to take total advantage of this library card.

A note from a past comment regarding paying for my library card... yes, I DO have to pay for a library card. It is a city library and you have to live within the city limits to get a free card (however, I think they pay for it with their city taxes). Since I live four or so miles out of town, I have to pay to take advantage of the library. It sucks, but so far, it's been worth it and I've already paid for the card in books/books on CD (for dh) I've not been tempted to buy.

We have to pay for the "good" library here, too! Same reason! I wish I had patience to read a book - movies go by so much quicker - so you don't have to sit for 2 days straight! LOL! It's called time management. LOL! And - since it's been forever since I have stopped by your blog, I'm thinking I LOVE that picture of you & ish behind the curtain!

Okay here are a couple of suggestions. Some I have read and the others come recomendations from people who have read them.
"These is my words" Nacy Turner,
"Stolen lives" Malika Oufkin
"Reading Lolita in Tehran" Azar Nafisi
"The book seller of Kabul" Asne Seierstad
"Hattie big sky" Kirby Larsen
"#1 dective Agecy series" Alexander McCall Smith
"Ender's game" Orson Scott Card
"The other Boleyn Girl" and others in the series Philippa Gregory,
Start with these and I might think of more.
