{Dixie} Fried Squash ... with Comeback sauce

One of our favorite things to eat over the summer is Dixie fried summer squash. I grew up eating this all summer every summer and it is one of the few things from my childhood that my family begs for every summer.  Even my picky husband.

And it's easy, too. All you need is a package of Dixie Fry. You can find it on the baking aisle.

Mix it with water until it is a nice consistency for dipping, not too thick or it won't cook right, not too thin or it won't stick to the squash.
Slice your summer squash, yellow squash, zucchini, or whatever else you want to bread (my dad tried a cucumber once - he liked it, but then he also likes pickles in his scrambled eggs).  The thinner the slices, the better it cooks.
Dip it in the Dixie Fry and then fry in hot oil until nice and brown.
Drain on paper towels.
Consume.
You can eat it plain or with fry sauce.  Our favorite is Comeback sauce, which is basically fry sauce with a little chili sauce, dijon mustard, garlic salt and pepper mixed in.  I got this recipe when I was in Mobile, Alabama this past summer at a restaurant called Felix's.  I loved the sauce so much I asked for the recipe and my waiter was kind enough to tell me what was in it.

Plain fry sauce (which I LOVE) just isn't the same anymore!

Does anyone else eat Dixie Fried Squash?   Don't knock it until you try it!
