Decidedly {December}

This holiday season kept me so busy, I felt a lot like the snowman that was barely hanging on to the top of my Christmas tree.  

The boy was so bored at times, he actually got off his computer and picked up a pencil.  Of course, he had ulterior motives...a girl...but anything that causes him to move is okay with me.

 The husband got a new toy for Christmas and took us up on the hill to try it out.   I'm a much better shot with the rifle than the pistol, that is for sure.  Ishee could barely hold the rifle up and it was just too scary letting her hold the pistol for more than one shot.     

 My mom went through her Christmas decorations since she was actually home to do it this year and invited everyone over to take what they wanted.  I didn't really want anything, until I spied the cute little ornaments that hung on our tree when I was a teenager and I immediately snagged them to hang on my own.   I love decorating for Christmas, and then as soon as it's over, I wish I had only put up the tree and nothing else. It's just too much work to take it all down.

 My Christmas present... a sideboard buffet the super cute and super talented husband built for me!  It's beautiful and I love it!   I'm so lucky to have him.  

 We've played a lot of games and have had an especially good time playing Balderdash.  We also added Farkle, Phase 10 Twist, and Literati to our collection this year.  

 Christmas eve was spent at the inlaws.  We ate pizza and were barely done eating when my niece asked if we could open presents now.  I think it was about 5:30.  So we ended up playing cards until we couldn't stand each other anymore and went home to wait for Santa Claus.  

 The nice thing about having older kids is that you don't have to wait until they are asleep for Santa to come.  I'd had a headache for a couple of days and was asleep by 10:15.    

 We tried to trade one of our cats in, but unfortunately, Santa wasn't interested.

 Christmas morning came at about 6:45 a.m.

 Ishee wanted an iPod touch for Christmas but we'd all decided they were just too expensive.  Boy, was she ever surprised to find she'd gotten one anyway.  I think she's taken over 500 pictures, made hundreds of movies, and downloaded more apps than she knows what to do with already.   Her sister also got one, and the boy got an iPhone.

 Monday was the dinner I got talked into planning with some of my siblings at mom and dad's house.  We played a white elephant gift exchange game and my brother gave us all some awesome handmade wooden spoons we could beat our children with.  Or cook with.  Whatever you are in the mood for.  We sisters also started planning a getaway to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to visit sister #1 this summer.   I'm super excited for that one.

  

   

Only a few days left of the month and we still have a birthday party tonight, a wedding reception to make cookies for tomorrow, and a New Years Eve party.

I'm going to need a vacation from my vacation!
