"E" is for Epic Experiences to the East

School starts in two weeks. We haven't had one epic experience all summer, so I decided it was time to load up the kids and head to the east. Two hours to the east, to be exact.

Past the dam...

Around the river, ten miles down a dirt road...
Past the big rock...
And the burnt forest...
Oh, look, a deer...
We're getting closer...
Less than a mile now...
Ah, there it is...
Under the beautiful green hills...
Lets go for a short hike...
And cross the creek...
And stop to smell the flowers...
You'll find the hot springs flowing right out of the mountain, captured in a small pool, and drains freely out the other side back into the river below...
If you are lucky, the pool looks like this (picture from June 2010)
And if you're not lucky, it will be packed to the gills with a million little screaming kids and a crazy moth saving English woman wearing a rather interesting swim suit that allows you all to see a lot more of her parts than I want, say, my teenage son and husband to be seeing. If you know what I mean. As my teenage daughter said... "awkward".
A giant scoop of square ice cream to save what's left of the day...
Especially when you get home and discover in your haste to leave the excitement of the pool, you have left all the wet swimsuits sitting on the bench next to the naked lady in the dressing room. Just epic.

I was reading along and nodding my head that these shots were epic in beauty. When I got to the last line, I did a huge LOL! Thanks for the smile, and the lovely shots.

I haven't been on any epic adventures this summer, either, so thanks for taking me along on yours. That was SO much fun and wasn't that naked lady thing awkward??? lol

An epic adventure for sure.
Heated pools, beautiful waterfalls, awkward moments, naked ladies and soggy swimsuits.

Oh dear! What a shock that must have been when you realized you'd left the swimsuits behind. I sure am glad the rest of the day went well!

As someone who grew up in England, I feel I have to apologize for the nearly naked lady...not the crazy bit...we are all born eccentric! (LOL).
What a beautiful place to call home!

That isn't a scoop of ice cream, it's a brick! Looks delicious though.

The photos you share from your clearly enjoyable trip are excellent and so evocative of a place and time. Your entertaining story was the best.

I wonder if the crazy moth-saving Englishwoman with the eccentric bikini knew how much she was showing everyone? If not, I bet she was embarrassed later! Perhaps her family took pictures!!

I love hot springs. They're quite magical, aren't they?
