Do you have any idea... at all... how much money I would be saving this very day if my husband were a doctor of veterinary medicine?
I stopped at the Vet yesterday and said, "please please please, tell me how to fix the wound on my stray kitty myself so I don't have to bring her in." They told me. I ran straight home and said "guess what honey? You always wanted to be a doctor, now is your chance to perform surgery on the cat."
We tried.
We failed.
He has the scratches to prove it.
I took her in to the vet today - to be spayed... oh, and while you are at it, would you check on that big gaping wound on her back? Thanks. Call it being a responsible pet owner. Bob Barker would be so proud.

Ho I wish I could be a vet too, when our jack russel had an accident, it cost us hundred for vet's fee to treat his leg.
Please come and find out what my D is
Well I'm glad things did get taken care of. I think its amazing how something so small can cost big bucks.
I'm letting the pros Do it.

So sorry you remain but amateur vets! Animal health care may be as expensive as human health care. Thanks for the photo and for caring for strays!

I saw a segment on the news the other night that a lot of rural communities in Utah are offering help with education costs for people going into veterinary medicine--if they'll make a commitment to come to their town. They are especially soliciting large animal veterinarian's. I guess they are in short supply. So maybe you could go back to school?
Doctor is a dreadful word for many,
bravo,
thanks for sharing your story,
best wishes.
I wish! we took our dog a few times to the vet...my gosh! the bill is outrageous....:)
Hope you can check out my ABC Wednesday entry too. Thanks!
