Summer vacation for me officially started on Tuesday as Monday was my last day of work. Woot Woot!!!
This week included a trip over the railroad tracks to a garden nursery in the middle of nowhere to buy flowers for my flower bed. I may have gone a little overboard as I have more flowers than places to plant them. Whoops.
I picked the asparagus before the obnoxious neighbor kid got to it (I ought to be allowed to pick it out of my own front yard once in awhile, eh?) and roasted it for dinner. MMMM....
Transplanted some flowers... they look a little sad...
Dug up the irises that just weren't working at this end of the house... okay, so the husband dug up the irises and I told him where to replant them. He's a keeper, that one.
Did some massive weeding... I'm thinking I haven't weeded in years. It was that bad. Too bad I'm only a third of the way done.
The girl and I made huckleberry popcorn. Two things I'd do differently next time... remember to take out the unpopped kernals (duh) and stop at the Prepared Pantry for some Huckleberry color... the red and blue food coloring turned the popcorn a nice shade of... dirt. Still tastes heavenly, though.
And finally, the husband and I went for a drive to Fall Creek... a place we'd driven by hundreds of time and never once noticed there were water falls just a few feet off the road. We felt dumb after we stopped and asked a care taker of a local campground where they were and he was like, uh, right over there... OH!!! Pretty! Check back in a few days to see more pictures of this beautiful waterfall in this weeks "photowalk".
School ended for the sophomore around 1:00 today (would have been sooner but he wasn't smart enough to go get his library card checked off earlier in the day), and it ends for the girls around 10:30 tomorrow. A completely pointless day for them to go, but they wouldn't dream of missing one last day with their friends.
P.S. Happy Birthday to my sister Bonnie. I hope you are having a smashing birthday party with the rest of those who have left us before their time.

Look how busy you are already!! YOu have no idea how jealous I am that you can pick asparagus (did I spell that right?) from your yard! I LOVE the stuff!!
I want to go on a photo walk with you!!
You sure know how to have fun on your summer vacation! And home grown asparagus...yum!
My kids have two completely pointless WEEKS of school to end the year -- this after a mediocre school year anyway (sigh...don't get me started...)
That train tracks shot it fantastic -- I love that framing.
You have an obnoxious neighbor kid who picks your asparagus? That's not something you hear every day.
The key to finding waterfalls is to look for the falling water.
Just a tip.
I love that train shot! And don't feel bad, I sometimes go years without weeding too :D
