Today I am thankful for veterans... past and present, who fought for our freedom and continue to do so. I am thankful for the men and wives who sacrifice their time and their loved ones to serve our country. Those who leave their wives and families at home, and those who send their loved ones off to serve and protect my freedom. You are my hero.
I got to watch a veterans day program at school today. The raising of the flag for the pledge of allegiance and lowering back to half mast out of respect for those who have passed on. A 21 gun salute. Taps. This was followed up by the National Anthem, God Bless America and two short speeches on why we celebrate this day.
To make it that much better, I shook the hands of these veterans who came to our school for this program, and finished it up with a big hug for one in particular, and old family friend who volunteers with the VFW and is a veteran himself. Today... I have lots to be thankful for.
