I have followed her example. Sort of. I do clean the fridge out. Periodically. I got rid of the old stove and went to a flat cooktop because I was tired of cleaning those little burner things (it helped that it quit working, too). But the microwave? It's my nemesis. It's one of those things I just choose to shut the door quickly and pretend that whatever is growing in there isn't going to affect the food I'm cooking. Right?
Then, one of my bloggy friends happened to blog about this miracle "lightning" clean all product for the microwave. It's called - Vinegar. Put some in a cup of water and boil it for a couple of minutes. Let it sit for a couple more minutes and wipe clean.
I read that and thought - yeah right.
I tried it and thought - holy freaking moo!!!
It WORKS!
Now that I know how easy it is to clean, I will forever feel guilty if I have a dirty microwave. So be off with ya, clean your own microwave. Feel free to also tell me I'm the last person on earth to discover this lightning fast microwave cleaner because I'm pretty sure I must be.

I do the same thing but with lemon juice in water! No stinky vinegar and the lemon oils help break down everything just as well. Just wipe it all down with a wet papertowel and it's good to go! No more burnt microwave popcorn butter splatter smell either :)
I used vinegar for the burnt dry oatmeal episode, but other than that, I use plain old water. I can wipe everything down with no stinky smell from the vinegar! I boil water in there for about 5 minutes and then let it sit.
HA - I was reading and thinking - vinegar and hot water - steams it right up - then you said it anyway!
I had heard this, and even tried on a microwave that I burnt popcorn in. I usually try to keep it wiped out. Anyway, I don't clean the stove weekly and the fridge even less often. Somehow it must not of stuck all the teaching.
Yep, that's right. But it's been around for generations. When Jack broke his head in the nursery rhyme, what did he fix it with?
VINEGAR and brown paper!!!
