First, watch this short video...
And why YES, that is my eight year old who just dropped from a zipline into 18 feet deep water, why do you ask?
The other day, dad called and invited us to go invade my nephews backyard pond. So... we did. My nephew hooked up a zipline that goes across the pond and my other nephews visiting from Utah (I have a lot of nephews) were having a ball on it with a pulley my dad rigged up (they had a pulley already, but he rigged up a different, faster one). My own kids are so not adventurous, but after watching their little 10 year old cousin do things like this:

They were hooked. So they climbed out of the paddle boat and went for it.

I made Ishee don a lifejacket, for which she was at first refusing to wear, then grateful to have after she realized just how far she had to swim.

After dropping, they swam back and used this nifty "towrope" to climb back up to the top of the hill.

The big boys stayed up there to help them reach the bar, otherwise you had little boys with looks like this on their faces as they tried to figger out how to jump up and grab that bar without falling down the hill.

That's a steep little hill!

And then - the high school boys who were there hanging out broke the pulley my dad had rigged up there. So my 15 year old nephew climbed out on the cable (after proudly declaring those high school boys to be stupid jocks - ROFL!) and brought the pulley back so they could take it back to dad's "macgyver" studio (aka - his shop) to work up a new pulley.

And while the pulley was down, they spent the remainder of the time jumping off the trampoline into the pond - thus making this my best shot of the week.

My kids want to go back tomorrow. And the next day. And the next. And... I think I may just see if she'll make room for them in her house somewhere (I noticed she has an empty bedroom downstairs) so I don't have to keep driving over there. Ha ha!
