When if comes to vacations, I’m not exactly a world traveler. That comes mostly from being married to a guy who travels more than he wants to for work and a vacation actually means staying home. I have to remind him periodically that for some of us, the furthest we get from home on a regular basis is the grocery store. Doesn’t sway him much, though.
However, a few years ago, my husband received a bonus from work: $1000 that had to be used for travel expenses. I jumped for joy. He moaned and groaned. I got online and began travelling our vacation. Between his frequent flier miles, Marriot rewards points and this bonus, we could spend a week in Hawaii for pennies compared to what it would normally cost. I quickly all the arrangements before he could change his mind.
And this is what we found:
White sandy beaches and scantilly clad women (and old men - nastay) on Waikiki...
The Waikiki aquarium...
A lone tree on Wailea....
And... the ocean - where the husband FINALLY got his feet wet. He's just not a water guy.
We left on a Tuesday at 6:00 a.m. arriving in Hawaii around 2:30 that afternoon, Hawaii time. We left for home the next Monday night at 10:00 p.m. Hawaii time, arriving home around noon the next day. It took us a week to recover from that flight home!
Now that I am finally learning how to really use my camera, I need to go back. When's the next bonus coming, eh employers?

Wow, what an AMAZING TRIP! I would love to travel to Hawaii some day. You did such a great job taking photos!
We spent our honeymoon here. Such a complete waste of money. I'd like to go back someday and see things like you did. Honeymoons are wasted on the young and "inexperienced"...
