House Hunting...

Well, after playing the "what's wrong with my camera" game and finding out the winner had to fork over just under $200 to have it repaired, my husband and I had a decision to make. Pay it and hope I get many more years of use out of it, or bite the bullet and buy a new one. With the way technology changes these days, the newer nicer model was not that much more than it cost to fix, so yep... we bought a new one.

Unfortunately, I haven't had many photograph worthy moments with the weather being so rotten and my kids equally as rotten. Other than the deer in the field across the street... too bad we were in the car on our way to church (and late to boot... well, arriving any later than ten minutes early is late, but only if you want to sit in an actual chair), thus, there was no time to run back into the house and grab the camera.

So this morning, I had a few minutes before the library opened, so I decided to take the scenic route to town and do a little photography along the way. The first thing that caught my eye was this funny little duck on the dry bed that was taunting this cat on the bank.

If only cats weren't askeered of water... that would have been a sight I'd like to see...

Then I drove over to where my brother #7 used to live. He had poured a foundation for a new house a few years ago in the hopes of one day actually building on it, but things happened and it never got done, so he sold the lot last summer and moved elsewhere. This is what stands there just six months later. I had no idea! Me thinks I need to get out more.
As a kid, I spent countless hours at our old friends Grandma and Grandpa R's house. I found out a few weeks ago that grandma R's house isn't there anymore and has been replaced by a newer model:
Whoa! Just so happens my nephew and his wife are building this little shack... I can't wait to see it when it's further along, or even when the front yard is not blocked by dirt and heavy duty machinery! It's going to be beautiful.

I used to want to grow up and live here...
Or here...
I was a strange child, was I not?

But, instead, I live here...
Not a bad trade off, eh?

Ha!!

I wish...

Actually, I really don't. Can you imagine how many toilets I'd have to clean? I can barely stand the two I have now!

This one, however, I can actually afford... and I highly doubt there are any toilets to clean...
SCORE!

wow! I love these pictures of the houses. You did well 'getting out'. That cat and duck picture made me laugh. I love ducks.

Sorry about the camera - but I bet you were miserably excited about the new one. :)

You totally had me with the house. Except I was glad I wasn't the one cleaning the bathrooms. I never want more house than I can clean in a day, oh wait, I mean that my cleaning lady can't do.

So - uh - what kind of camera? Clearly it's the camera not the user, right? LOL!

LOVE the pictures - and I LOVE this last one w/ no toilets - cause yah - 4 toilets is just too many - especially for a family with low fiber intake! LOL!

I think I'm weird like you - I would like to have lived in those other two shacks that you wanted to live in growing up! Maybe when we're older we can be hermits & live there as roommates once our family dies off?

forgot to add - maybe in our old age & hormonal deficiency - we can even grow a nice beard or stash on the lip? hee hee!
